MEET THE TEAM
K-LAB was founded with the purpose of challenging the structural engineering norms in the Scandinavian construction industry. The K-LAB team has worked on a variety of innovative engineering projects across the world and now brings together our collective engineering experience to make our clients' visions a reality.
Our core team of structural engineers and modelers come from different experiences and have complementary strengths. Our backgrounds span between construction management, structural engineering, architecture and BIM coordination. This, along with a strong commercial understanding allows us to look at design from a number of viewpoints to ultimately find the best solutions to meet our clients' needs.
MEET OUR PEOPLE
Graham has more than 30 years of experience within the UK / Swedish / North American construction industry. He has knowledge in all structural design materials including timber, masonry, steel, concrete and glass.
He has extensive modular design experience in Sweden and a good understanding of urban design principles and planning. His career has seen him work in many different markets including retail, residential, healthcare, high rise, educational, arts, aviation & commercial buildings.
Grahams biggest strengths lie in his expertise in construction management, optimising design to suit buildability and his strong leadership of multidisciplinary design teams.
Senior Project Manager
Graduating as a structural engineer 20 years ago, Karl has gained varied and international experience while working in the building, telecommunications and aviation industries in the UK, Ireland, South East Asia and Sweden.
Karl is now primarily focused on driving structural design teams and project coordination between the client, architect and other disciplines. He uses his wealth of experience across different industry sectors to bring new solutions to the table not only for the structural design, but for the entire design team.
Principal Structural Engineer
Paul has over 10 years of experience as a structural engineer which has seen him design buildings in Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Thailand and Sweden. He has experience in aviation, commercial, education, health, retail and residential buildings.
Paul utilises his strong multi-disciplinary knowledge including mechanical systems, facade systems, civil works and environmentally sustainable design to ensure the structural design compliments other disciplines.
His strength lies in his problem solving skills and quick interactive design which allows architects and clients to achieve their designs using simple, yet innovative structural solutions.
JESPER LIDBERG JENSEN
Jesper has been working in the construction industry for almost a decade. He started out as an assistant project manager on small residential projects where he built up his knowledge of the entire design and construction process.
His role as BIM Specialist sees him operate in the digital project environment, managing structural models in Revit and undertaking full project coordination and construction sequencing in Navisworks.
Jesper is a strong advocate for the collaborative and coordinated environment of BIM and he is leading K-Lab’s push to work in 5D on all projects so that our clients can realise the true benefit of BIM.
BSc Structural Engineering
Edward has been working as a structural engineer for 4 years. He has worked across a range of projects including airport terminal expansions, residential buildings and industrial buildings. His role at K-Lab sees him take control of the structural design, solving our client’s problems with innovative thinking, undertaking detailed design calculations and following the design through construction with a constant site presence.
Edward has a strong understanding of Swedish norms and standards and uses this knowledge to generate details with our design partners that will result in safe and energy efficient buildings.
Market Coordinator and Assistant Modeler
Alma has had an interest in the construction and design industry for many years. She uses this passion and knowledge to drive K-Lab’s external presence. Her role at the company is two-fold, she leads K-Lab’s winning work team, creating proposals for our outgoing tenders and constantly searching for new opportunities in the market. She also assists our project teams with Revit modelling and tasks.
Alma’s enthusiastic nature allows the team to focus on project delivery while she gains market knowledge. Expect her to be in contact with you soon!
Principal Structural Engineer
David has over 12 years structural design experience across a wide variety of sectors including education, residential, commercial, public infrastructure and industrial. Previously he has worked in the UK, Ireland, Denmark and Sweden, and has designed buildings as far afield as the US and China.
Experienced in retrofits, alterations to historical buildings and all forms of new build, he has a strong multi-disciplinary focus. He enjoys collaborating with the design team to understand design drivers and find the optimal solutions for each project.
David has a keen interest in sustainable design and has been involved with several industry wide initiatives to ensure that construction lessens its environmental impact.
Lovisa has a background in project and business management. She works alongside our project leaders to plan and track our deliveries and works with our winning work team to allocate the correct resources for upcoming projects. Her non-construction background provides a diverse view point on our designs and often pushes the team to explore new ideas based on other industries.
Lovisa is an integral part of our project delivery and business planning teams.
Senior Structural Engineer
Laura has over 8 years of experience in structural engineering, having worked in the UK and Sweden. She has a very strong technical background in deep basement constructions and the use of concrete and steel.
Laura is an integral part of our detailed calculations team which sees her work across multiple projects at one time. She assists with the scheme design reviews for all new projects to push the design solutions in the right direction.
Laura is also very experienced in retrofitting existing buildings, having worked with many renovation projects in the UK, ranging from small house conversions to large office spaces.
Senior Structural Engineer
MSc Architectural Engineering
Samuel has a background in both structural engineering and architecture, having studied and worked in both industries over the past 10 years.
He is a leader in Sweden in computational and parametric analysis and design, and he has spent a large portion of his career working with timber and CLT structures. He has a passion for developing simple structural solutions for complex architectural forms.
Samuel leads K-Lab’s parametric modelling team where he focuses on developing wholistic design schemes for new build projects and maximizing efficiency in architectural and structural layouts.
Luke has experience as an Engineering Technician in both Structural and Civil roles based in New Zealand, along with an academic background in Architectural Technology split between Denmark and New Zealand.
His experience has predominantly had a focus on the digital delivery of concrete structures and seismic retrofits along with various BIM and Coordination aspects.
Luke is looking forward to adapting these skills within the Swedish environment at K-Lab while continuing to explore and develop new ways to manage and display project information in his role as a BIM specialist.
Senior Structural Engineer
Sam has over 8 years of experience as a structural engineer, from both the UK and Sweden, with a wide variety of design experience from rail, residential and industrial sectors.
Sam is a part of our calculation team, bringing his experience in renovation projects and large-scale infrastructure projects involving collaboration across disciplines.
